About Me

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_193f.jpg

Hi and welcome! My name is Hana (pronounced with a long 'a') and if you know anything about me, it's that I love, and always have loved, to write. I'm the go-to person who quickly whips up a funny Facebook invite blurb, copy-edits your paper that's due at 11:59 p.m. and writes personal essays on her own time (when she should be doing homework).

As a journalism and mass communications major and history minor at The George Washington University, I get to blend my passion for communicating the news with my knowledge of systemic trends that create our perception of the press and current events. My interests are multi-faceted, so I don't like to limit myself to opportunities that check one box. Because I've never checked just one box either.

I have experience writing for my university's publication and working in public relations, social media, and communications (see my resume for more info). My ideal internship/job is one that requires journalistic-type writing in the public sphere with a dash of strategic communications/marketing.

Work Experience

Work Experience

(See my 'resume' section for more detail.)

 June 2020 - Current

Education Policy  Communications Intern

Interning for New America's Education Policy Program at a time when students, from preschool to college, are navigating remote learning has opened my eyes to a range of educational inequities.

 Jan. 2020 - May 2020

Social Media Intern

I was an intern for the History News Network, and I ran their social media accounts, including Twitter and Facebook. My mornings typically started with coffee and content drafting.

August 2019 - September 2019

Communications/Public Relations Intern

During my time at a strategic communications firm in the West End (appropriately called West End Strategy), I learned how a small but mighty team was able to effect real and positive change in the public policy arena.

April 2019 - Present

Leadership Chair

Through my community service fraternity, I've received the opportunity to complete over 100 hours of community service and learn about issue areas in the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia region. I also serve as leadership chair for the Spring 2020 pledge class and I'm on the planning committee for our designated service week.
